The Baofeng DM-32UV is one of the most inexpensive radios availabler for amateurs interested in experimenting with APRS and digital modes. It was the low price point and large number of features that attracted me to this radio.
If you sum up the reviews for this radio most often panned are; the display is not very bright making it difficult to use outdoors, and it's really difficult to understand. Well all DMR radios require a little more effort to understand than their analog (FM) counterparts.
I can't make the display brighter but I can help with making the radio a little easer to use. I've created a couple pieces of software and a manual that is quickly becoming an in depth document on using CPS to program the Dm-32UV.
Files
| Programming the DM-32UV Codeplug | This document describes programming the DM-32UV using CPS. NOTE: This document is a WORK IN PROGRESS with emphasisi on "in progress". I'm making it public for two reasons. First it contains a reasonable description of working with the program AT2DM and CSV files for radio channels. Second I'm hoping to gain some feed back; is this something that is useful? |
| DM2EN | A Python program to convert a DM-32UV codeplug that displays Chinese characters on the radio so that it uses English. |
| AT2DM | A Python program to convert a channel listing, downloaded from https://repeaterbook.com, in an Anytone AT-D878UVII Plus CSV file to a CSV file that that can be imported into CPS for the Baofeng DM-32UV. |
Before you start thinking I'm an expert and bombard me with questions, I would like to point out the definition of an EXPERT.
EX: a has been
SPURT: a drip under pressure
I'm one of those, maybe both.
